Russian - The True Defender

The True Defender

This 156-meter long monster is a true Motherland’s defender. The guided missile destroyer Bespokoiny is powered with a total of eight Moskit 3M80E missiles, two Shtil surface-to-aimissile systems, 130-mm artillery complex and so on.

Sovremenny class destroyers (or Project 965) are the principal anti-surface warships of the Russian Navy.
Bespokoiny is a multipurose high-speed combat ship which primary role is to attack enemy warships while also providing sea and air defense for warships and transports under escort.
The ship was launched on June 9th, 1990. It took them about three years to built it.
Technical characteristics:
Horsepower: 100,000;
Speed: 32.7 knots;
Autonomy: 30 days;
Cruising range: 3,920 miles;
Displacement: 8,000 tons.
The K-130 is a 130-mm automatic gun with a shooting range of 23 km.
Project 956 guided missile destroyers had been actively used up to the end of the cold war.
The ship features 16 watertight sectors and a lot of low-alloyed steel construction elements.
It was the first to be equipped with an automatic re-charging mechanism AK-130.
It also features time-fuse and radar fuse missiles.
The ship’s helicopter pad accommodates one Kamov Ka-27 anti-submarine warfare helicopter.
The ship is outfitted with the Raduga Moskit anti-ship missile system with two four-cell launchers installed. The ship carries a total of eight Moskit 3M80E missiles. The missile is a sea-skimming missile with velocity of Mach 2.5, armed with a 300 kg high-explosive or a nuclear 200 kt warhead. The range is from 10 to 120 km. The launch weight is 4,000 kg.
“Do not walk during rotation!”
It shows a good floodability and survivability due to its steel constructions separating explosive sectors of the ship.
Type 956 originally only carries the hull mounted array because the ASW gear of this class is primarily for self-defense.
The ship’s propulsion system is based on two steam turbine engines each producing 50,000 hp together with four high-pressure boilers. There are two fixed-pitch propellers. The ship’s maximum speed is just under 33 knots. At a fuel-economic speed of 18 knots the range is 3,920 miles.
The maximum wave height the ship is able to withstand is 12 m.
The ship’s crew is 296 people in peacetime and 358 people in wartime (including 25 officers, 48 warrant officers). Today’s service period for draftees is one year which is not enough to learn how to operate a combat ship like this. After one year, they get transferred to the reserve. According to officers, the only way out is to increase the number of contract seamen.
Cat named Tyoma is nodding by the book of distinguished guests which, among others, includes an autohraph of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
The crew of Yaroslav Mudry (Wise) moored next to Bespokoiny consists of contract seamen only.

Putin declared president-elect

Vladimir Putin, set to win a third presidential term, declared his victory and thanked his voters for their support. Polling at over 64 percent with almost all of the votes counted, victory seems assured.

We have won in an open and fair struggle,” Putin said, addressing 110,000 people gathered on Manezhnaya Square outside the Kremlin walls.
He stressed that this victory signals a defeat for those who want to destroy Russia.
This was more than just a presidential election. This was a very important test for us – a test for the political maturity of our people and independence. We have demonstrated that nobody can impose anything on us. We have shown that our people are capable of telling the difference between the desire for novelty and progress, andpolitical provocations that press for only one goal: to destroy Russia. Today our people have proven that such scenarios are not going to work in our country,” Putin said.
We will work honestly and intensely, and we will achieve success. We encourage you all to unite for the benefit of our or nation and our homeland.”

Putin, who is likely to win the election with over 60 per cent of the vote, appeared on stage with outgoing President

Dmitry Medvedev, who also thanked all of Putin’s supporters.
Thank you all for supporting our candidate. We all needed this victory – our country needed it. Each one of us needs this victory. We will not give it away to anybody,” Medvedev said.

In 2008, when Medvedev won the presidential race, they also appeared together to give speeches

Speaking at the rally, Putin appeared to have tears in his eyes. This sparked an online frenzy, with many bloggers crestfallen with what was perceived as an emotional reaction, while others were quick to call them “crocodile tears.” Putin later said the cold wind had made his eyes water.
It was windy, windy it was,” he told journalists, arriving at his headquarters.

At the headquarters, Putin made several video calls to congratulate his supporters across the country and assure them that his election promises will not be broken.
